JAUS Working Group
In 2008, the JAUS Working Group was dissolved as a result of the transition of JAUS from a DoD Standard to a commercial standard under the Society of Automotive Engineers. This new group, SAE's AS-4 Unmanned Systems Committee, is continuing on the work of the JAUS Working Group by developing and publishing standards across the spectrum of unmanned systems. However, a casualty of this transition is that in 2009 the JAUS Working Group's website (www.jauswg.org) was taken offline. With this change, the existing JAUS standards documents were no longer available on the internet. Therefore, OpenJAUS has made the relevant documents available herein for current and future users of the existing standard.
JAUS Documentation
The JAUS documentation consists of the following documents:
- Domain Model (DM)
Written in non-technical language, the Domain Model presents a requirements model of the User. It does this by organizing similar functions, similar knowledge, and similar devices into Functional Agents (FA), Knowledge Stores (KS), and Device Groups (DG), respectively.

- Reference Architecture (RA)
Written in technical language, the Reference Architecture defines:
a. System Topology
b. Specific Components and their interfaces (messages)
c. Methods for message passing
d. Standards to support Component Integration
The services and capabilities in the Reference Architecture are traceable back to the Domain Mode. Moreover, the Reference Architecture does not presuppose any hardware configuration or specific technology.

- Compliance Specification (CP)
The Compliance Specification defines compliance in accordance with the Domain Model and the Reference Architecture.

The Strategic Plan establishes the Vision and Mission Statements, and provides guidance as to the path ahead.
